In order to enliven the streets of Rochdale town centre I have proposed the implementation of a "Historical Advert Scheme". On blank and unattractive walls, historic Co-operative adverts could be painted to enhance the public realm and help support the urban regeneration of Rochdale. As well as being new pieces of public art, they could complement the pedestrian signage, but also they would help raise awareness on the local built heritage and the importance of the Co-operative Movement in the history of the town.
